TowHaul Brake Cooling System (patented)

TowHaul is pleased to introduce the first ground driven, brake oil cooling package for use with our Front Loading TowHaul Lowboys.

The new oil-cooling package allows customers to use wet disc brakes on their TowHaul Lowboys. TowHaul’s innovative system, which is powered by the forward rotation of the wheels, circulates and cools the brake oil without using the Prime Mover pumps or separate APUs.

TowHaul recently completed testing of the oil cooling system, hauling hydraulic shovels down grades of up to 14%. The first system was put into service using a Caterpillar 793 axle under a 275-ton capacity TowHaul Lowboy.

While TowHaul will continue to offer dry brake axles for use with their lowboys, the oil cooling system expands the options available to the mines. The oil cooling system and wet disc brake axle option is available for use with TowHaul’s standard and modular lowboys.

Existing TowHaul Lowboys can also be retrofitted with an oil cooling system and a wet disc brake axle.
