Towing Option:

The advantage of the TowHaul Gooseneck is the versatility that it offers.  Not only can the Gooseneck be used in conjunction with a TowHaul lowboy, it can also be used to recover and tow disabled mine haul trucks with the optional TowHaul Towing Package.  This additional functionality can further increase the utilization of the dedicated prime mover while offering a safe and efficient way to recover disabled haul trucks.  Additional advantages include:

  • No need for an operator in the cab of the failed truck
  • Repairs can be performed in the shop, not in the field
  • Disabled haul trucks are quickly removed from active haul roads

When customers order the optional TowHaul Towing Package, TowHaul supplies a specialized sub-frame that hydraulically slides the Gooseneck forward on the prime mover.  This patented sliding sub-frame allows the Gooseneck to slide forward for better weight distribution on the prime mover.  At the same time, moving the gooseneck forward allows us to lock the Gooseneck into place and prevent it from pivoting side to side while towing disabled haul trucks.

After sliding the Gooseneck forward on the prime mover, the TowHaul Gooseneck lifts the front tires of the disabled haul truck off the ground and tows the disabled haul truck into the shop for repair, without any auxiliary equipment and without the need to have an operator in the disabled haul truck.

TowHaul offers two alternatives for connecting to the disabled haul truck.  Trunnion Pin and T-Bar.  The choice between using a TowHaul Trunnion Pin or the TowHaul T-bar depends upon factors such as fleet size and the type of trucks at the mine.  With both methods, the connection point is located on the Gooseneck Toe which then connects to the truck being towed.

Additional Options:

Based upon customer requests, TowHaul has developed several additional options to accompany TowHaul’s Towing system.  The TowHaul Park Brake Release System and Auxiliary Dump System are integrated into the Prime Mover and utilize the hydraulic system of the Prime Mover to release the park brakes and operate the hoist cylinders (to dump the load) on the disabled haul truck disabled haul truck.  TowHaul has also developed a wireless remote control system that allows a person on the ground to control the Gooseneck functions assisting with hookup to the disabled haul truck..
